KASAMA - CHICAGO
On May 11, 2022, the Eye Eaters Society hosted 60 guests for a four-course family style menu by Kasama chefs Tim Flores and Genie Kwon. They were accompanied by Tim's parents as guests chefs; Lolita "Lolly" and Reggie Flores helped with the preparation of some traditional food dishes... Lolly also helped name some cocktails! The food was inspired by the work of Filipino artist, Jessa Mae Mendiola. Her artwork was placed throughout the space as conversation pieces. Her artwork is focused on her Filipino-American identity, socio-political issues, immigration, culture practices and colonialism. Johnnie Walker Brand Ambassador, Alexis Belton, alongside Kasama Beverage Director Josh Daws, crafted five cocktail pairings for guests to enjoy. They drew inspiration from both Jessa's artwork as well as Tim & Genie's dishes.
